The driving force behind the fire service in Sevier County has always been the exceptional pride and commitment to excellence that our emergency responders provide each and every day. Over 300 very special men and women have accepted the challenge, and are ready to stand in the gap when an emergency occurs in our County. Although called volunteer, these responders are professionals at what they do. Some of our volunteers find their calling and pursue a career in the emergency services field. Some of the paths taken include: EMT’s, Paramedics, 911 Dispatchers, Educators, HAZMAT Technicians, BLSTransport Services, and of course a Firefighter.
Not everyone is cut out to be a front-line firefighter. But if you SEEK EXCITEMENT… LOVE WORKING AS A TEAM… ENJOY HELPING OTHERS… AND, live in Sevier County (or if in another bordering County and within 5 miles of a station)… Then you should definitely continue reading about a life changing opportunity that might ge available for those who have that higher calling to make a difference and become a firefighter…
WHAT WE DO
Firefighters respond to various kinds of events that usually need a fast approach requiring both teamwork and individual intensity. Some of the problems we solve every single day include:

→Various Search and Rescue Events
→Fire Prevention and Safety Programs

Becoming a firefighter is a very rewarding and valuable way to serve your community. It takes dedication and bravery to become a firefighter. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you WILL receive one of the most gratifying experiences of your life. And in the process become part of an organization that thrives on unity, teamwork and accountability.
And by the way, to dispel a myth that has been around for years, it’s not just a “man’s job” as many people may still think. We have several female members that serve from support roles to frontline firefighters throughout Sevier County…

It’s definitely not a walk in the park but with the right mind set and training you can 100% do the job… I love being a firefighter because helping people during an emergency is so rewarding. If you are the person we are looking for, we will provide you with the superior training needed to meet the requirements for your particular type of membership for FREE. Training will be offered internally and through the State Accredited, Sevier County Firefighter Recruit Academy. You can also attend classes taught through the National & State Fire Academies as well.
